  A direct link between drug abuse and cardiac pathologies is assumed
  in these cases, but cannot be proven given the slow nature in which these
  cardiac pathologies develop, and the influence many other factors can have on them.
  
  Many medical studies on AAS have shown that AAS play
  an important role in the treatment of an increasing number of diseases.
  The most important cardiovascular event is death from
  heart disease. None of these observational studies
  establish causality, and none can tell us if testosterone therapy is heart-healthy or -harmful; more research is needed.
  A 2008 study administered an oral testosterone preparation or a placebo to 22
  men with coronary artery disease and low testosterone levels.
  
  Depression during steroid withdrawal is only thought to afflict roughly 10% of users but
  can still be severe enough to cause suicide. The temptation to resume
  use is strong, and one of the ‘triple threat’ of pathways to dependence, along
  with not wanting to lose gains that can’t be achieved without steroids and

  However, like other anabolic steroids, it often leads to a range of side effects, including infertility, acne, erectile dysfunction, insomnia, and decreased glucose tolerance.
  
  This effect was more pronounced the longer they had taken AAS and did not seem to be
  reversible after discontinuing AAS use. Coronary atherosclerotic plaque obstructs blood flow to the
  heart muscle, increasing the risk of ischemia, heart attack,
  and heart failure. Notably, three AAS users, but none of the nonusers, had suffered heart attacks due to coronary artery disease at relatively young
  ages . Another user experienced heart failure with underlying coronary artery disease at
